If the author cut back on the violent torture scenes and porn movie worthy sex descriptions and actually finished the storylines I'd be inclined to read another book. She does a great job with "red herring" plot twists and dialogue, but when I get past all the "red hot poker shoved up an anus" and "can't repeat as it's too crude" bits, only to find out the major storyline isn't even dealt with unless I buy another book, I'm done.Product details

Enjoy her books
The late, great Beverly Barton wrote some on-the-edge-of-your-seat stories and this one doesn't fail. The torture scenes can be graphic and not for the squeamish but NOBODY could write a gripping murder mystery/romantic suspense novel as well as Beverly. I have most of her books and they are all riveting.
great book...keeps you guessing
Held my interest but wasn't very good.
I have really liked this series so far. I have to say the villain in this one was shockingly disturbed. I was guessing until the end who was killing people. There were so many red herrings. I enjoy the suspense and the characters of Beverly Barton's books, however, I wish the language regarding sex was not so crude. Even so, I still plan to grab the third book and finish the series.
I think I like this one even better than The Fifth Victim. While Jamie was a complete jerk, he didn't deserve to die like that! Jazzy & Caleb's relationship was great and I enjoyed catching up on Genny & Dallas. I can't wait for the third and final book of the trilogy!
The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the return of Reve. What a shallow, arogant creature she is! She believes she's better than everyone else who wasn't raised in money! Which is ironic considering she wasn't born into privilege but found in a dumpster! She was a complete snob, insulting, bigoted and downright cruel and those were her best qualities! I hate to see her involved with Jacob (the neanderthal savage, as she thinks of him) since he deserves so much better! But regardless I'm still looking forward to seeing more of Jazzy and the rest of the folks in Cherokee Pointe!
Enjoyable series, although I was confused by which book was first in the series- it isn't listed correctly on the series page- so now I'm going to read the first book.
The characters are great in this series, although it takes time for some of them to grow on you- Reve for example. Very good suspense thriller, great author.
